After almost seven years of marriage, Kim Kardashian-West has filed for divorce from her husband Kanye West.
Christy Welder, a representative for Kardashian-West, confirmed the news.
According to reports, the filing cites irreconcilable differences. The reality show star is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their four children. There is a prenuptial agreement for their assets.
Rumors of divorce have been swirling around after sources have said that they have been living apart. Reports say that West is based in their home in Wyoming, while Kardashian-West is in California with the children. Rumors about the couple going to counseling have also been reported.
The two met years before they started dating.
In an interview with each other for Vogue Arabia in 2019, Kardashian-West told her husband, “This was before you released your first album and you were known as a music producer. I was really shy. You thought I was [singer] Brandy’s assistant, which I wasn’t,” Kardashian West recalled. “Ever since you said that, it’s everywhere… like “Kim is Brandy’s assistant.” I was her friend and stylist. [laughs]. I thought you were attractive, nice, very charming, really funny, powerful — I was in awe of you, but I was really shy, quiet, and a little nervous, to be honest.”
Kardashian-West and West started dating in 2012. West proposed to her in an almost-empty sports stadium, while an orchestra played and her family watched. Following a pre-party at the Palace of Versailles in France, they were married in Florence, Italy in 2014.
They have four children together: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.
