It’s A Wrap: Vitamin Sea

Just what the long weekend called for, Vitamin Sea mounted by Block Party and Flotsam & Jetsam Hostel nourished our creativity, friendships, and tummies!

Here’s a rundown of what happened last August 29 and 30 in beautiful La Union:

1. Beach-scape: Craft Sessions By The Sea

Kay Aranzanso and Hey Kessy’s Mansy Abesamis jumpstarted the weekend with Chalk Lettering and Rubber Stamp Making classes on Saturday.

Abbey Sy and Googly Gooey’s Tippy Go brought their students into a typography journey with their Hand Lettering and Brush Lettering workshops on Sunday.

Check out the beach themed works of one of the students Charmaine (@chrrrmaine) of WhenInManila.com!

2. Art for All

Julia Nebrija of The Walking Labyrinth Project introduced an interactive and meditative activity for everyone, arranging wooden pallets on the sand that guests can pick up and paint on. The final piece was an inspiring and original collaboration by the beach goers.

Art lovers also experienced how two artists put together their installations. June Digan and Jelvin Base got their hands dirty for their live art presentations.

The Instagram photo exhibit was an added dose of creativity for the weekend as well.

3. Sperry Topsider Giveaways

Sperry went all out and gave away four pairs of shoes to Vitamin Sea participants who took beautiful photos of the weekend using the hashtag #sperryblockpartyph. Check out their lovely booth (from IG @sperryph)!

4. All Day Crafty Buys

Favorite Block Party purveyors made an appearance as well, and the beach community had fun shopping for the perfect beachside finds. Thanks Lagu, Ritual, Maria Balingit, Space Garden, Bicspoke, Tali Ti Amianan, KatchaCanvas, Hey Kessy, Abbey Sy, Googly Gooeys, and Agos Lifestyle!

5. Kitchen Takeover

Let the rain pour! Nothing stopped Chef Theo of Resultado Gourmet and the all-girl power team behind Sugar Babies Desserts Unlimited from serving fantastic yummies throughout the weekend, even when it rained during Saturday dinner.

Chef Theo got creative with Filipino cuisine and served modern takes such as Tempura in Kare-Kare Sauce, Crispy Bagnet Aligue, Dinakdakan Wrap, and Crunchy Tadyang Sinigang.

Sugar Babies Desserts sold out on their Crimson Chill (homemade red velvet ice cream with cream cheese swirls on a dark chocolate cookie cone) and their snow cones with a buzzy kick.

They also brought their best sellers Costra Dulce and Bacon de la Chocolat.

6. Jamming Session with Folk Yeah, Bo Bismark, and Hoochie Coochie Mikkie

Flotsam & Jetsam’s community vibe welcomed everyone to the casual weekend celebration, and the evening’s acts couldn’t help from bursting into song throughout the day. We were treated with performances by Folk Yeah! and Bo Bismark on Saturday, and groovy blues with Hoochie Coochie Mikkie on Sunday.

6. FlipTrip.ph’s Trivia Night

Sunday night was jam packed for FlipTrip.ph’s Trivia Night despite the rain, and 12 teams battled it out to win awesome prizes: GCs from Sperry Topsider, two speakers from Braven worth P6,000 each, Nescafe Smoovlatte, beer and pizzas from Flotsam, and desserts from El Union Coffee. Only one team took them all home! Congratulations Team Space Jam!
