Is This the Actor Replacing Johnny Depp in “Fantastic Beasts”?

After Johnny Depp filed his resignation from the “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” movie franchise, it seems that Warner Bros. already has a replacement actor in mind and is reportedly in early talks with him to fill in the role of Grindelwald.

In an exclusive report by Deadline, sources claim that Mads Mikkelsen is being eyed to play the Dark Wizard by director David Yates, who is admittedly a huge fan of the Danish Hollywood star. Mikkelsen is best known for his portrayal of Dr. Hannibal Lecter in the hit television series “Hannibal” as well as main antagonist Le Chiffre in 2006 James Bond film “Casino Royale.”

It has yet to be confirmed that Mikkelsen will be taking over as Grindelwald, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for updates!

Depp was asked by Warner Bros. to withdraw from “Fantastic Beasts” which has already begun shooting for its third installment after he had lost his libel case against British tabloid The Sun which called him a “wife-beater” for allegedly assaulting his ex-wife Amber Heard during their marriage. Depp, as well as his former partners Winona Ryder and Vanessa Paradis, have repeatedly denied this.

The London High Court judge gave the ruling on Monday, November 2.

“Fantastic Beasts 3” is scheduled to premiere in Summer 2022.
