Is Michael B. Jordan Going to be the Next Superman?

Michael B. Jordan Black Panther Superman

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s…. Michael B. Jordan?

Variety reported that the Black Panther villain has met with Warner Bros. for a possible role as Superman. However, “Jordan isn’t ready to commit to taking on the project since filming doesn’t seem likely to happen for several years and he has a full dance card of projects.”

The publication added that it’s unlikely for a Superman film to premiere before 2023, since there’s no script and director announced.

It’s important to note that this will not be the first time that Superman will be black. In comics history, four black individuals have donned the cape. There’s Sunshine Superman, an alternate version that was a member of the Love Syndicate of Dreamworld. There’s Superman of Earth-D. There’s also Calvin Ellis, a Kryptonian president of the US in Earth-23. Lastly, there’s Val-Zod from Earth 2.
