OMG, is Kpop group Wanna One officially reuniting for a special performance scheduled later this year?
Rumor has it that the 11-piece boy band will be coming together one more time to put on a show for this year’s 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards (2020 MAMA). According to insider claims from industry sources, the group’s former label CJ E&M is currently in talks about a reunion, following the well-received joint performance of former Wanna One members Kim Jae Hwan, Ha Sung Woon, Park Ji Hoon, Lee Dae Hwi, and Park Woo Jin at KCON:TACT Season 2 last month.
โWe are in discussions for Wanna Oneโs collaboration performance, but nothing has been decided as of yet,โ CJ E&M said in a statement, according to Soompi.com.
Although nothing’s confirmed yet, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that it does come true!
The 2020 MAMA is scheduled to take place on December 6 and without face-to-face contact (โuntactโ). Details about the ceremony have yet to be announced.
Wanna One was formed after the second season of the South Korean reality television talent competition Produce 101. They debuted on August 7, 2017, with eleven members: Kang Daniel, Park Ji-hoon, Lee Dae-hwi, Kim Jae-hwan, Ong Seong-wu, Park Woo-jin, Lai Kuan-lin, Yoon Ji-sung, Hwang Min-hyun, Bae Jin-young, and Ha Sung-woon. Their contract ended on December 31, 2018, and they held their last concert on January 24 to 27, 2019.
After the group disbanded, Min-hyun went back to his former group NU’EST while Lee Dae-hwi and Park Woo-jin debuted in new groups AB6IX. Bae Jin-young also debuted in his new group CIX. The others, however, pursued solo careers.
