Now that Janine Gutierrez has transferred to the ABS-CBN Network, fans are dying to know: is she going to play the role of the villain in the long-awaited television revival of “Darna”?
Janine got to answer these rumors in a recent press conference she held–her first as a new Kapamilya actress.
“It’s so interesting to me, kasi (because), of course, I’m a fan of Darna, I’m a fan of all the old films,” she told ABS-CBN News regarding speculations that she’ll be portraying Valentina in the upcoming show, which is the role her paternal grandmother, music icon Pilita Corrales, played in the 1994 film “Darna: Ang Pagbabalik.”
“Siyempre, flattered ako na nakikita ako ng ibang tao na mapasama sa ganoong klaseng proyekto. (Of course, I’m flattered that other people see me joining this kind of project.) I don’t know, we’ll see,” she added.
The new “Darna,” starring Jane De Leon as the iconic Filipino superheroine, will air later this year. It was originally intended to be a full-length film to be directed by Jerrold Tarog. Due to scheduling conflicts, however, he dropped out of the project.
It was last month when Dreamscape Entertainment officially confirmed Janine’s network transfer after months of speculation by sharing a few photos taken from her contract signing with ABS-CBN executives.
