Heart Evangelista is one of the celebrities active in helping fellow Filipinos amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
She opened her Twitter DMs to allow followers to message her and ask for any kind of assistance—medical, financial, or for relief goods. She also worked together with her husband, Governor Francis “Chiz” G. Escudero, to donate bed foams and pillows to give to Sorsogon residents who got stranded at checkpoints.
With all the help she’s doing, one Twitter netizen said, “Hoping Heart Evangelista won’t enter politics.”
The actress responded, “Politics is not for me. I can help without that kind of power.”
Evangelista also recently launched Big Heart PH, an initiative that aims to help students adjust in the new normal. She said, “What once started as a small project on Twitter has now turned into one of the biggest blessings this year. Been pouring our hearts and souls into this and finally I am so proud to say that we are officially launching Big Heart PH! Through this project, we aim to provide students the proper tools they need so they do not stop learning and educating themselves despite the current pandemic situation of our country.”
Under the project, she is giving out tablets and free data allocation for students in need. To join, students must simply send a message to the Big Heart PH Facebook or Instagram page with their information and why they need the tablet.
