Though he’s known best for his roles in romance and drama films, Aga Muhlach shared that he looks forward to getting the chance to do something way past his comfort zone. Particularly, something in the action or superhero genre.

In an interview with Karen Davila on ANC’s “Headstart” on Monday, December 23, Aga expressed that he would want to do an action project as long as it’s made for commercial consumption and not too high-brow.
“Parang mas gusto kong gumawa ng action or kung anuman na totoo. Meaning kung gagawa ako ng istorya ng sundalo or superhero, ‘yung totoo, pang-Pilipinas (I think I’d want to do action or whatever else as long as it’s true-to-life. Meaning, if I’m going to do a story of a soldier or a superhero, it has to be real, it has to be relatable for the Philippines),” Aga said.
He did admit that he isn’t usually the first person that people would think of to be cast in those types of films. “Because one thing I have to do first is to surprise them by being fit, I need to be buff again,” he shared.
He added: “I will do it because may gusto akong gawin (I want to do something) in 2022. Basta (It’s just that) it’s a surprise. A movie. So the surprise element there should be when they see you in the movie trailer they are going to be like ‘What? Is that him?’ Ganoon dapat (It should be that way). If not, sabi ko (I told them), ‘Let’s not do the movie.'”
He then revealed that the script is already ready and that it’s going to be a superhero movie.
“So 2021 will be tough for me, meaning in terms of diet and workout and all. I want to put myself out there, I want to pressure myself,” he continued. “It’s going to be different. If I don’t look different, if I’m not going to be cut, […] I’m not going to do it.”
