Epy Quizon has marked a personal milestone: finishing his college degree three decades after he began his studies. In a recent Instagram post, the actor shared that he has fulfilled a long-standing promise to himself to complete his education, 30 years after stepping away from college.

Quizon looked back on his early days at De La Salle University in 1996, when he said he was already “just a thesis away” from graduating. However, he explained that circumstances at the time led him to prioritize “survival” over completing his studies.
“Fear and circumstance pulled you away, and survival became more important than ceremony. But you made a promise,” he wrote in his post.
The actor eventually returned to school and graduated with students from De La Salle University’s College of Liberal Arts. In his message, Quizon described the moment as a promise fulfilled after years of work, responsibility, and personal challenges.
He also shared that the achievement carries personal meaning for his family. Quizon said he dedicates the milestone to his late father, the “King of Comedy” Dolphy, and as a gift to his mother, who is turning 80 soon.
“Today, you return—not as the young man who left, but as someone steadier, stronger, and faithful to his word,” he wrote.

For Quizon, the diploma represents more than completing a degree. He described it as a symbol of perseverance and a legacy for his children, adding that it reflects the idea that it is never too late to finish what one has started.
Following his announcement, Quizon received congratulatory messages from fellow celebrities and supporters. Director Andoy Ranay, actor-director Michael de Mesa, and actress Claudine Barretto were among those who shared their well-wishes in the comments section of his post.
Quizon is known for his roles in films and series such as Markova: Comfort Gay, Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral, Dirty Linen, Firefly, and Greed. He currently stars in the stage adaptation of About Us But Not About Us alongside Elijah Canlas and Romnick Sarmenta.
