Ibis: Your Home Away from Home in Central Hong Kong

Looking for a place to stay when you’re planning for a travel can be quite tedious, especially when budget is a factor. Personally, there are a few things I consider when looking for an accommodation when traveling: location and accessibility, quality, and of course, price.

In my recent travel to Hong Kong, I looked at AirBnbs, homestays, and hotels.

AirBnbs have become a go-to for me because of its budget-friendly rates, but then I found this hotel. Ibis.

Ibis, located at Hong Kong Central and Sheung Wan offers great value for money and is one of the hotels where the Airport Express Shuttle Bus has a direct stop.

The location is not only perfect for tourists, but for any guest too that values accessibility. There is Starbucks and a convenience store just on the ground floor of the hotel. There are also nearby restaurants, tram stops, and MTR Station. If you want to immerse in the local culture, there are Chinese herb stores in the area where you can buy tea and other herbal medicines.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the front office staff with huge smiles on their faces. The reception area is also quite big and can accommodate eight check-in/check-out customers all at the same time. You don’t have to worry about waiting in line.

The rooms at the Ibis are quite big compared to most homestays and AirBnBs in the area. If you’ve been to Hong Kong, you’d know it’s notorious for its ridiculously small living areas and travel accommodations. I was quite worried about the room because I was traveling with someone who is 6’5″ tall.

What if he didn’t fit in the bed or the bathroom? Yikes. Luckily, all the rooms in Ibis are very spacious.

There are different kinds of rooms which either has a double bed or two single beds. The view from the rooms are also different; you can opt to get a city view or the harbor view.

We stayed in a standard room with harbor view. It was breathtaking to see Hong Kong at night so don’t miss out on that!
