I tried to eat clean for a week and I didn’t know it can be this tasty!

Last week, I tried to eat clean. I have always avoided doing this because I’m used to eating anything I want (which means mostly junk food and fast food).

When I’ve heard of Fit Food Manila, I decided, why not? It’ll be for just a week anyway and if I really don’t like it, I can just quit cold turkey.

The way how Fit Food Manila works is that they deliver your food for the day a day before you have to consume it. For instance, your food for Monday is already planned out and they deliver it right on your doorstep on Sunday night. With this, you can just put the food in the fridge and just heat it up when you want to eat it. Easy peasy.

To give you a snapshot of what I had the week I tried Fit Food Manila, here are some of the food I enjoyed. I didn’t expect that this kind of “diet food” for me can be this tasty!

Carb-free Arrabiata with Extra Bacon

Carb-free pasta what? I didn’t think that was even possible yet it was. The pasta was made from, I think strands of cucumber or whatever vegetable that may be, it was an acceptable replacement for regular pasta. The Arrabiata sauce was tasty. And come on, the extra bacon was a great bonus!

Hawaiian Roast Chicken on Zucchini and Cherry Tomatoes

This dish was a good way presented to eat your veggies. I wasn’t a big fan of zucchinis but when I ate them with the citrusy tomatoes and the chicken, it was amazing!

- Garlic Roast Chicken with Mushroom Gravy on Garlic Buttered Mashed Cauliflower

No words. I can eat salmon and asparagus all day, every day.

The meal plan I had with Fit Food Manila followed the Ketogenic diet. It is a newly-launched diet program from Fit Food Manila and it was nice that we were able to try it.

According to Fit Food Manila, “Simply put, Ketogenic diet is a high fat, very low carb diet that forces the body to enter ketosis. The idea is to deprive the body of carbohydrates, forcing it to enter the ketosis stage where it converts body fats to ketones, which in turn serve as alternative fuel. In this state, your body will have easier access to stored fats, and fat burning is optimized.”

So, basically, your meal plan contains food that contains fat but is low in carbs, hence, the dishes shown above.

Fit Food Manila is a diet food delivery service that was founded by entrepreneur Ryan Serrano to help people achieve their fitness goals without taking the pleasure out of eating. They deliver freshly-cooked, delicious calorie-counted meals to people not just in Metro Manila, but in nearby provinces as well. Hence, they make going on a diet easier.

For the Ketogenic diet plan, Fit Food Manila deliver the meals one day in advance. Included in the menu is a meal for breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks. You have the option to opt for regular or large sizes. Each day will set you back from PhP645 to PhP745 plus delivery fee, which is about PhP50-PhP80 per day depending on your location.

After trying it out, it seems that eating clean is pretty doable. I might try it again someday soon.
