Nothing beats that feeling of joy and pride after creating something by hand. This month, The Glass Bar at Crescent Moon, in partnership with WhenInManila.com, invites you to I Made It! (a hands-on summer workshop) on Saturday, April 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Workshop fee is P2,900, inclusive of two workshops and an Asian-inspired lunch buffet at Crescent Moon Cafe. Choose two of the following workshops.
Pottery with Lanelle Abueva-Fernando Studio Pottery
Play with clay and create your own stoneware masterpieces. We will take care of glazing and firing your ceramics, and you can pick up your finished works after a few weeks.
Lanelle Abueva-Fernando has been in the ceramic business since 1981. She graduated with a Certificate in Fine Arts from the University of the Philippines Diliman, later apprenticed with a potter in Hachijojima, Japan for three years, and furthered her studies in ceramics at the Sun Valley Center For The Arts in Idaho, USA. Her handmade pieces are on display at Crescent Moon.
Ink Marbling with Miguel del Prado
Why use a paintbrush when you can paint with fire? Learn to turn any porcelain piece or glassware into a work of art by using alcohol ink and fire.
Miguel is an Industrial Design graduate from the University of Santo Tomas, who loves to self-study, and always think outside the box. He left the corporate world to start crossing off goals on his bucket list and is now the owner of personal care brand Danni Parcca, and other upcoming startup brands.
Photography with Caloy Soliongco
A throwback to slow photography in the age of Snapchat and Selfies. This workshop equips students with skills to create stories with their images, whether this is shown for 24 hours on Snapchat or forever in a gallery.
Caloy Soliongco directs digital commercials (the ones you skip on YouTube) for a living. Photography is his first love, first getting work published as a 17-year-old film student at the University of the Philippines. His photographs have graced the lifestyle sections of the Philippine Daily Inquirer and the Philippine Star, as well glossies like Rogue Magazine, Men’s Health Philippines, and Plant Magazine.
By the end of the day, you can hold up your masterpieces and proudly exclaim, “I made it!”
