We are now on to the second month of the year. If you were able to make January a productive month, congratulations! If not, don’t worry, you still have 11 months left to make 2018 the best year of your life. During the first quarter of 2017, I was extremely frustrated and disappointed with myself for not being ambitious enough to work for my goals. Right then and there, I realized that I had to get my shit together. And with the right mindset, I was able to achieve my goals.
This year I realized, why not share it with you? I know that millennials are extremely ambitious by nature. We want to travel, make our parents proud, and give back to our community. It is not hard to easily give up or be discouraged whenever we feel like our dreams are still far within our reach. My blog, www.jacklynne.com focuses on achieving your travel goals but this article will show you that with the right attitude, we can achieve everything we have ever dreamed.
Take my case, for example. I just turned 23 years old last November and all my life, I have lived in the slums. I came from a very humble upbringing as my mother is a public school teacher and my father is a taxi driver. However, I did not see myself as a victim of my circumstances. If it were for anything, it challenged me as a person. Last 2016, I made my childhood dream come true when I visited Europe. Here’s an article on how I financed and planned my Eurotrip as a 21-year old Filipina. For 2017, I vowed to travel more, buy my family a house, and give back to charity. And guess what? I did it.

Just a note that I am not writing this post to brag. I am writing this to inspire readers especially millennials who feel like giving up. I believe that people of our generation can achieve so much given the right mindset and determination. On my last post about my Eurotrip, I got a lot of bashing as some people felt I was just showing off. Some even accused me of having a sugar daddy financing me. It’s okay and people can say what they want because my family, friends, and I know that everything I have, I worked hard for. Plus, despite the negative feedback I received, were also messages thanking me for inspiring them. And that made everything worth it. 🙂
Moving on, here are the things I achieved this 2017.

I was able to buy my family a house. We’ve lived our entire life in the slums and were scared that anytime soon, our house would be demolished. I didn’t want my family, especially my parents, to be worried about that anymore. After years of saving, I was able to finally buy that house we are enjoying now.
I funded the education of a child from Marawi. I’ve been wanting to do this for the longest time but I had no idea where to start. Finally, I saw World Vision’s ad and I knew that I had to give back my blessings. I chose to fund a child’s education from Marawi and I couldn’t have been happier. This 2018, my goal is to go to Marawi and visit the child.
