”How Do You Leave a Character Behind?”: Mon Confiado Gets Real About De-roling

Mon Confiado stars in the upcoming Paul Soriano film, “The Fisher”. The veteran actor is known for his method acting technique and has previously opened up about going through different emotions to internalize the character he is playing.

“The actors are urged to feel the true sentiments they require in each scenario rather than compartmentalize and fake them. This can cause psychological and behavioral changes for as long as they are in the position,” Confiado said in a post two weeks ago.

This time, he shared about his experience in de-roling from his character in the movie. “‘DE-ROLING’ is simply how to get yourself out of character once you’ve finished performing,” he first explained. “Even the most prepared actors can experience negative effects when they take on intense roles.”

He continued to express his dilemma, “As actors, we spend years learning how to become different people, but how do you leave a character behind when a show is over?” Then, he revealed how the characters actors are playing affect their psyche. “Exploring the dark side of humanity is an actor’s privilege, but sometimes the impact of the character on your own psyche can take you by surprise,” he concluded.
