At the end of the polls, the country’s Commission on Election declared Marcos the victor, but election watchdog NAMFREL (National Citizen’s Movement for Free Elections) said it was Corazon Aquino who won. The announcement of Marcos’ win became one of the turning points in PH history, as the People Powerful Revolution ended the Marcos regime two weeks later.
The photo was shared on Tuesday, which coincides with the Philippine snap election in 1986. According to History Channel, this served as the turning point of the first EDSA Revolution.
