Want to discover a new food spot in Tagaytay that offers sumptuous dishes that won’t burn a hole in your wallet? Try visiting Hiraya Cafe, an under-the-radar restaurant located inside a wellness resort.

Hiraya Cafe is the in-house cafe and restaurant of T House Tagaytay, a tranquil retreat hotel in the heart of Tagaytay City. In 2020, the cafe opened to the public. So, whether or not you’re staying in the hotel, you can enjoy the delicious food of Hiraya Cafe.

We spoke with Chef Mikey del Rosario, the filmmaker-turned-Executive-Chef of Hiraya Cafe. He describes their menu as having modern and whimsical Filipino fusion dishes, taking inspiration from Spanish cuisine as well.

Looking at their menu, you’ll see the Pinoy classics such as adobo or kare-kare, but with a modern twist. Chef Mikey shares with WhenInManila.com that he aims to champion Filipino food while offering hotel-quality dishes to the public—whether or not they stay at the hotel.

So, aside from serving traditional Filipino meals with a modern twist, they also serve western comfort food with a Pinoy twist.

They’ve got must-try brick-oven pizza with flavors such as sisig pizza, longganisa pizza, and palabok pizza! Their brick-oven itself is literally a work of art, decorated with stained-glass from churches all over the Philippines.

They also offer meat pies with classic Filipino fillings like bistek, menudo, and bulalo.

Hiraya Cafe also takes pride in using organic ingredients. There’s a small farm in the back of the hotel where they get most of their ingredients; while they source their pigs from local piggeries around the province. Plus, the flowers you see around the hotel are actually edible flowers that you might find on one of your meals.

We really love how Hiraya Cafe’s menu could be so innovative yet still so close to home. Everything we tried was delicious and very filling. They have generous servings at such an affordable price point—especially for an in-house hotel restaurant.
