On to the main build of the HiFiman RE-400, they instantly show how slim they are built. It’s a very attractive minimalist design that emphasizes on the smallish form-factor which is an advantage for those on-the-go. Main housings are contoured roundly with a simple design that keeps the size at bay, and keeps the form contouring the ears. I really like how the cable restrains are elongated to counter how slim the body and cables are for durability. Having the slim profile may reduce overall durability due to the slim cables and slim housings, but the fact that HiFiman counters the trade-off with a slightly longer cable restrain keeps any quality issues at bay. The main driver housings do feel very sturdy even though the housings are quite slim in profile. Pretty much a good form vs. function balance by HiFiman.
