Hidilyn Diaz Wins Her First Ever SEA Games Gold In Weightlifting

Hidilyn Diaz now has another medal to add to her growing collection. The latest gold for weightlifting from this Southeast Asian Games 2019 will be joining her Olympic silver medal, World Championships bronze medal, and Asian Games gold medal.

She clinched the win in the 55-kg division by lifting a combined 211-kg in the snatch and the clean-and-jerk at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum. Diaz lifted 91 kg in the snatch, and then 120 kg in the clean-and-jerk.

Diaz beat out Vietnam’s Thi Thuy Nguyen who lifted a combined 197-kg (82kg snatch, 115kg clean-and-jerk) for silver. Indonesia’s Juliana Klarisa followed for the bronze with a combined lift of 175-kg (80kg snatch, 95kg clean-and-jerk).
