Hidilyn Diaz welcomed the new year by setting a new goal: the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The Olympian shared a series of photos on Instagram, led by a picture of her holding a statue of the Eiffel Tower.

Diaz captioned the post with “New Year. New Beginning. New Goal.” She also used the hashtags #paris2024, #olympic, #olympicweightlifting, and #TeamHD.

In a separate post, she shared a video of her journey as an Olympic athlete, from London in 2012 to Rio de Janeiro in 2016, and her historic win in Tokyo in 2021.

The post was captioned with “New Year, new goals, and new challenges.”

It added, “We know one this is clear, our goals, our aspirations. Everything is achievable because we will manifest it, and work for it. The first Gold medal for the Philippines is not enough for our advocacy and what we are trying to do for weightlifting and sports in the Philippines. But TeamHD is committed and we will continue to do our best for the Philippines.”

The post ended with, “@hidilyndiaz journey is inspiring for many, but we know our job isnโ€™t finished yet. Onto our next goals for 2022, up until 2024.”

Diaz’s Olympic journey

Diaz started her Olympic journey when she competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics at 17 years old. She did not place in 2012 but was more successful in 2016 when she brought home the first Olympic medal for the Philippines in 20 years. Diaz won a silver medal in the womenโ€™s 53-kg weightlifting division.

Earlier this year, she won the first-ever Olympic gold for the Philippines in theย womenโ€™s 55-kilogram weightlifting category.
