The whole country cheered for Hidilyn Diaz as she won the Philippines’ first gold medalist at the Olympics. She also set an olympic record of clearing 127kg final lift and a total of 224kg lifted.
According to the law, Diaz should get P10 million for winning gold in the weightlifting women’s 55kg category in the Tokyo Olympics. She is also set to get an Olympic Gold Medal of Valor issued by the Philippine Sports Commission or PSC.
In previous reports, Hidilyn Diaz will also get P10 million each from Businessmen and Sports Supporters Ramon S. Ang of San Miguel and Manny V. Pangilinan of PLDT. Deputy Speaker Mikey Romero also said there will be an incentive of P3 million for anyone who will snag gold during the olympics while P2 million is for silver and P1 million for bronze medalists. Hidilyn is also to receive a house and lot in Tagaytay care of the Philippine Olympic President Abraha, “Bambol” Tolentino.
