Here’s Your First Look at the Cast of “The Little Mermaid Live”!

Before we get to see the live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid, we’ll see The Little Mermaid Live, a televised staging of the hit Disney film.

Playing Ariel will be Auli’i Cravalho, who voiced the titular character in Moana.

She will be joined by Graham Phillips as Prince Eric, Queen Latifah as Ursula, John Stamos as Chef Louis, and Shaggy as Sebastian.

The Little Mermaid Live will feature original music from the Disney film and the Broadway show. Aside from being a live show, it will also use footage from the film and puppetry.

The Little Mermaid was released in 1989 to critical acclaim, marking the beginning of what is called the Disney Renaissance, which includes the films The Rescuers Down UnderBeauty and the BeastAladdinThe Lion KingPocahontasThe Hunchback of Notre DameHerculesMulan, and Tarzan. The Little Mermaid won two Academy Awards the year it was released: Best Score and Best Original Song for “Under the Sea.”

The Little Mermaid Live will be aired on November 5, 2019 on ABC.
