Here’s What Lea Salonga Had to Say About Being Included in U2’s Tribute

Lea Salonga U2

Earlier this week, iconic Irish rock band U2 performed for the first time in the country for “The Joshua Tour” at the Philippine Arena.

The legendary group has been in the music industry for over four decades. During their performance, the group paid tribute to several iconic female personalities from the Philippines and other countries.

Local Filipino personalities that the group honored included Filipina revolutionary Melchora Aquino, former president Corazon Aquino, Senator Pia Cayetano, singer Lea Salonga, journalist Maria Ressa, late singer Maria Carpena, and climate and social justice activist Lidy Nacpil.

Now, Lea has responded to being included. According to a Facebook post, “Woke up this morning to at least ten messages with photos because my photo was on the projection wall during U2’s Ultra Violet. Wow, I am dead. Thank you for those messages, friends, and thank you, U2 for including me! Honored!”

The band also covered notable women from other countries, including Ellen DeGeneres and Greta Thunberg.
