Here’s What Julie’s Bakeshop Had to Say After We Cast Them in Our Local “Squid Game”

Squid Game Julie

Earlier this week, we reimagined the cast of Squid Game as local characters and cast the mascot of Julie’s Bakeshop as the Red Light, Green Light doll in the first episode. Well, they saw the post and responded to us.

In case you missed it, here’s our reimagined Larong Pusit with an all-local cast:

Upon seeing this, Julie’s Bakeshop responded to us on Facebook, saying, “I don’t want to be a part of this. But sharing is caring?” They ended the post with a yellow heart and the sign-off, “Tita Julie.”

If you haven’t seen Squid Game yet, the Korean show follow “hundreds of cash-strapped players [who] accept a strange invitation to compete in children’s games. Inside, a tempting prize awaits — with deadly high stakes.”

The show stars Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Wi Ha-joon, Jung Ho-yeon, O Yeong-su, Heo Sung-tae, Anupam Tripathi, and Kim Joo-ryoung.

Squid Game has garnered positive reviews from critics and fans since it was released on September 17, 2021. According to Ted Sarandos, co-CEO and head of content at Netflix, “Squid Game will definitely be our biggest non-English language show in the world, for sure.” He added that there is “a very good chance it’s going to be our biggest show ever.”
