Here’s what a plate looked like after leaving it for 10 minutes in Taal Volcano ashfall

See those tiny particles coming from the sky, those are not snowflakes. Alert Level 4 is raised on Taal Volcano, which means a hazardous eruption is imminent. Along with this, thick ashfall is beginning to envelope nearby areas. Ashfall has even reached the metro.

Sammy De Leon Deleña, who is in Dasmarinas, Cavite, decided to leave an empty plate outdoors to see the effect of the ashfall. The results were shared on Facebook.

“So I put a plate outside for 10 minutes… And here’s what Taal ash looks like. It’s a mixture of rock, minerals, silica and tiny strands of supercooled lava called volcanic glass,” Sammy said.

Here are the photos shared:

Sammy said that he did not use a microscope for the close-up shots. He used a regular lens from Apexel.
