The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has already started rolling out the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) to its beneficiaries.
With the SAP, qualified beneficiaries will receive PHP5,000 to PHP8,000 assistance from the government.
The agency has started in Metro Manila but has since begun reaching far-flung provinces.
In Nueva Ecija, specifically in the town of Cuyapo, one of the beneficiaries caught the hearts of people online.
This is Nanay Florentina.
When she received financial assistance from the government, she can’t contain her happiness.

They wrote:
Si Florentina? Masipag ‘yan at sadyang positibo sa buhay. Reject na mais ang kanyang pinupulot. Tinatahip rin niya ang mga natirang palay. Ibebenta niya ito at’ yung iba naman, kakainin niya.
Kasama niya ngayon ang anak niyang nagmana sa kanya sa sipag. Construction worker siya sa maynila pero dahil sa ECQ, hindi na rin siya makapagtrabaho.
Masiyahin si nanay kwento ng mga tao sa barangay nila. Kailan lang ay nabigyan siya ng bigas at manok mula sa LGU. Ayun, nagtatalon daw sa tuwa!
Nang marating namin ang bahay niya, at inabot ayudang ₱6,500, hindi matapos-tapos ang kanyang pasasalamat. Aniya, pagkain ang una niyang bibilhin.
Hinding-hindi namin makakalimutan ang mukhang ito. Si Florentina, kasama ng iba pa, ang nagpapawi ng pagod at pangamba namin. Sa kabila ng mga kritisismo, patuloy kaming maghahanap ng mga ngiting walang katumbas na halaga.

(Rough translation: This is Florentina. She’s very hardworking and she stays positive in life. She picks up rejected corn. She also manually moves rice gains up and down while winnowing it on a flat basket. She sells some of it while she eats those that remain.
She lives with her son who is a construction worker. Unfortunately, he can’t work in Manila due to the ECQ.
According to the locals in the barangay, Nanay Florentina is a vision of happiness. Recently, the LGU gave her rice and chicken, and she jumped with joy.
When the we [DSWD] reached her home and gave her P6,500, she gave us unending expression of gratitude. She said the first thing she would buy is food.
We [DSWD] will never forget her face. Nanay Florentina along with the other beneficiaries has helped relieve our worry and weariness. Even in this crisis, we [DSWD] will continue to search for those genuine and heartwarming smiles.)
