Playboy has always been the product of its time, since its inception in 1953 by the late Hugh Hefner, featuring beautiful women in titillating covers, pushing the boundaries of sex norms and inviting numerous controversies through its founder and the brand.
Although the brand is not without its fair share of criticism, Playboy has been making progressive strides as of late. Aside from veering away from its trademark nude covers, the popular men’s magazine just featured its first ever transgender playmate — 26-year-old French model, Ines Rau.

Ines has made Playboy history by being the first transgender model to be named as “Playmate”. The magazine has featured numerous transgender models in the past, the first being Tula, who posed for the magazine in 1991.
