Here’s How Cavite Plans to Test Up to 15,000 People for Coronavirus Per Day

Jonvic Remulla

Earlier this month, Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla announced that Cavite’s COVID-19 testing center has been given permission to operate by the Department of Health (DOH). Now, the governor has announced that they plan to test up to 15,000 people each day.

In a video, Remulla said, “Ang target ng Cavite ay sa 10 linggo ay magkakaroon ng kakayahan para sa 10,000 to 15,000 tests a day. Kapag 100% capacity na tayo ay test ngayon, resulta ay bukas.” (Cavite’s target in 10 weeks is to be able to conduct 10,000 to 15,000 tests a day. If we have 100% capacity, we can find out the results the following day.)

Watch it below:

Cavite has tapped three universities to help them with the testing: the De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute, Adventist University of the Philippines, and Cavite State University. They will also increase their swabbing stations to 25 areas.

Cavite will start testing probable cases and emergency frontliners, followed by food handlers and grocery store employees. This will be followed by public transportation workers and factory workers.

According to Remulla, they will test as many Cavite residents as possible.
