Here’s Everything We Know About the Third “Fantastic Beasts” Movie

Potterheads, we have news for you: there are new updates on the third Fantastic Beasts film!

According to reports, the third film will be set in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, following New York in the first movie and Paris in the second.

The entire cast of the sequel, “Crimes of Grindelwald,” is expected to return, including Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander), Jude Law (Albus Dumbledore), Johnny Depp (Gellert Grindelwald), Katherine Waterston (Tina Goldstein), Ezra Miller (Credence Barebone, a.k.a. Aurelius Dumbledore), Alison Sudol (Queenie Goldstein), Jessica Williams (Professor Eulalie “Lally” Hicks), and Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski).

This time, Williams’ character Lally Hicks, will be playing a bigger role in the third outing.

David Yates is set to return to direct, and J.K. Rowling will write the script with collaborator Steve Kloves.

According to Fogler, “We haven’t started filming yet. We start in February.”

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them starred Redmayne, Waterston, Fogler, Sudol, and Colin Farrell. It was directed by Yates, who directed the last four Harry Potter films. It premiered in November 2016 and was the first of a trilogy. It has become so successful that Rotten Tomatoes said, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them draws on Harry Potters rich mythology to deliver a spinoff that dazzles with franchise-building magic all its own.” It later went on to win an Academy Award for Best Costume Design.

Crimes of Grindelwald received a more lukewarm reception, with Rotten Tomatoes saying that it “has glimmers of the magic familiar to Harry Potter fans, but the story’s spell isn’t as strong as earlier installments.”

The third film will be released on November 12, 2021.
