Henry’s Professional Photo: Unboxing Therapy
Henry’s Professional Photo started out as a small camera store and has been well known for as far back as the 1980’s in Hidalgo, Manila. When In Manila, professionals, hobbyist and students often find themselves visiting the streets of Hidalgo for their photography needs.
Recently, Henry’s Professional Photo invited us to Commune Cafe in Makati for an unboxing session of their latest offerings! With a promise of free cupcakes, coffee and hands-on tests of the units, who could resist?
Canon shown us some of their popular offerings including the widely successful Canon EOS 6D full frame digital SLR along with the Canon PowerShot S120, Canon PowerShot G1X mkII advanced compact cameras. I was personally looking forward for the new and highly anticipated Canon EOS 7D mkII, but the Canon representative said that it isn’t out in our market yet. (However, it will be very, very soon!)
Action cameras are the rage nowadays and a newcomer to the market AEE MagiCam with the AEES70 (PHP17,999) would like to have a slice of that action camera pie. With a built-in monitor, external controls, available accessories and an aggressive pricing; AEE MagiCam action cameras is a very good contender to the very popular GoPro.
GoPro, the brand that started it all also showed their latest offering; the GoPro Hero4 Silver (PHP20,990), which is packed inside a waterproof case (not included) and ready for action.
Henry’s Professional Photo now also carries DJI Drones to attach those action cameras! With prices ranging from PHP23,990 up to PHP61,900 (depending of the specifications), aerial photographers and videographers get a lot of options to choose from, even when on a budget. Aerial photography and videography is a lucrative business, especially for weddings where a production crew can give another perspective in this highly contested market.
Samsung (yes, Samsung) makes fine cameras, as well! Samsung once worked with Pentax with their GX10 and GX20 line and after the partnership ended, Samsung entered the mirrorless market with the NX series. Shown above are the NX Mini (PHP26,990) and the NX 3000 (PHP24,990). The NX Mini is deceptively small at first I thought that it was the run of the mill point and shoot but to my surprise, it was an interchangeable system camera!
The NX 3000, on the other hand, is so packed with connectivity features for you to instantly upload your selfies! You can actually flip the screen 180° to actually take a selfie. Please do not let the chic design fool you since Samsung is very capable of making very fine images with their camera bodies and they do have an excellent lens line-up, too. I also anticipated the release of the much talked about Samsung NX1, a very serious camera packed with a ton of tech and like the Canon EOS 7D mkII, it should be out really soon.
Fujifilm is a camera brand dear to my heart and they were in full force during the unboxing event of Henry’s Professional Photo. I was able spend sometime again with the Fujifilm XT-1 Graphite Silver Edition (PHP66,990), Fujifilm X100T (PHP65,000) and the Fujifilm Finepix X30 (PHP32,000) and it was still so much fun the last time I played around with them. For a more in-depth look of these cameras, you can check out this article: Fujifilm X Series: The Return of a Sleeping Giant
I finally got to test the Fujifilm Finepix X30 in ideal conditions compared to the last time and as I expected, the handling and image quality for a compact camera blew me away!
It was a fun event held by Henry’s Professional Photo since walk-ins were entertained, too. A nice English gentleman who was just passing by also joined in for the day and walked out with some photography accessories for his upcoming trip. What can I say? The coffee was nice, the cupcakes were moist and delicious, and the unboxing and testing of the camera gears were therapeutic!
When shopping or looking around for photo and video gear and equipment, do pass by Henry’s Professional Photo and you’ll surely find what you are looking for!
