Heathers: The Musical


The Third Year Bachelor of Secondary Education – Major in English students of the University of Santo Tomas – College of Education, presents an adaptation of the “Heathers: The Musical” as its major production for the academic year 2016-2017.

Heathers The Musical is a rock musical with music, lyrics, and a book by Laurence O’Keefe and Kevin Murphy and based on the 1988 cult film Heathers. After a sold-out Los Angeles tryout, the show had a production Off-Broadway in 2014. The show, while a comedy, deals with issues of teen suicide, bullying, homophobia, and gun violence.

In this production, Bianca Natividad plays the innocent and quirky Veronica Sawyer and Jongseop Shin will play the darkly mysterious Jason Dean. Nicole Jana will play the heartless and cruel Heather Chandler, Danielle Albano will play the vulnerable Heather McNamara and Llewelyn Alapit will play the feisty Heather Duke. Eizelle Bernardino will play the bullied Martha Dunnstock. Arianne Bumanglag will play the free-spirited teacher Pauline Fleming. Cezar Maravilla and Gabriel Lucas will play the meathead jocks, Ram Sweeney and Kurt Kelly, respectively.

The rest of the cast includes Arianne Angeles as Karen Mitchel, Angelica Earnshaw as Louise Lane, Joyce Ocampo as Mikayla Lopez, Jessica Laviña as AudreyJones, Klein Borbe as Chantal Otto, Bea Casas as Stacey Turner and Endraelito Manalang as William Sanders.

With Christian Calungsod as the show’s production manager, this adaptation is directed by Dominique Ballesteros; with Avery Lapid as assistant director and Ara De Vera as the technical director

Three shows will be staged on May 17 and 18, 2017 with the following schedule: May 17: 2 PM, May 18: 10 AM and 2 PM. In lieu of buying tickets, entry to a show will be through donations of one (1) pad paper and one (1) composition notebook.
