Intramuros, Manila’s Walled City enfolded the seat of governance, religion and education during the Spanish era. Its cobble-stoned streets once echoed with horse-drawn caruajes of the affluent and the Ilustrados—the well-traveled, educated and enlightened Filipinos of the time. Today, vestiges of the past still linger in Intramuros, within the hallowed ramparts of Fort Santiago, the hustled recesses of the centuries old San Agustin Church and the elegant, old-world interiors of Ilustrado, the Walled City’s fine dining restaurant set within a garden courtyard.

 

Established in 1989, where once stood Lourdes church of the Capuchin brothers. Here in a setting inspired by Spanish architectural detail wrought iron grillwork, stone tiles and wood, Ilustrado offers the rich flavors of Spanish, Filipino cuisines all making up our unique heritage.

 

On the evening of the 14th, guests are treated to a stunning 6-course strictly prix fixe menu and a soothing serenade from five-man acapella group, the Montserrat singers. Ladies receive a surprise pouch and all happy Valentine gets a complimentary glass of Hardy’s Nottage Hill Shiraz ans Chardonnay courtesy of Future Trade International.
