#HawakBitawMV Launch: The Aftermath

Following the release of its lyric video on YouTube back in February 2017 and its Spotify debut last May of this year, Hawak Bitaw has become LaLuna’s well-known single. Its lyric video earning over 3.8 million views on YouTube, and over 800,000 streams on Spotify and landing a spot on Spotify Viral 50 Philippines, Trending Tracks and Pinoy Alt Rock playlists only 4 months after its release.

Recently, LaLuna has been teasing us with a music video. Directed by Camille Aragona and written by Reason Fortun, featuring indie film actors, Iana Bernardez and Migs Almendras, Hawak Bitaw (Official Music Video) talks about a girl who moved out of her apartment after a recent break up and starts unpacking her stuff only to find things that would remind her of her past lover.

The music video was launched last Novemeber 9 at SaGuijo Bar, Makati featuring performances by Carousel Casualties, Sasaya, Ysanygo, Banna Harbera and Where’s Ramona?. Hosted by Fiona Bacani and Renzo Lumanog, the launch had approximately 150 to 200 attendees, a number which seems unimaginable for SaGuijo to accommodate.

“In the past 2 years that we’ve been playing at SaGuijo, this is the first time we’ve seen SaGuijo this packed. Never did we expect to see a crowd this big at the launching of our first music video” says LaLuna frontman, Reason Fortun, in one of his Facebook posts. According to the band, they even did rearrangements to the venue to accommodate the number. The place had people standing from the parking area up to the outdoor area, and inside SaGuijo, people were trying to make room for more.

LaLuna played an hour-long set of 8 songs in total, introducing 2 new songs to watch out for. Their performance featured saxophonist Archie Pangilinan, and Joed Zavalla and Jomari Zavalla of Lidjah on percussions.
