Maybe you’ve heard of the first Lego-themed resto in the Philippines or the My Little Pony-themed brunch but we bet you’ve never heard of a Harry Potter-Game of Thrones crossover bistro. So if you’re a Potterhead, a Game of Thrones fan, or both, then this diner should be your next chill spot!
Located at Lakefront, Muntinlupa, The Witches Brew Diners (TWBD) is the first and only Harry Potter and Game of Thrones combined-themed restaurant in the Philippines. The concept was the brainchild of the owner’s 15-year old daughter and 13-year old son. TWBD was supposed to be just a cafe, hence “brew,” but they decided to make it a diner instead, and we’re glad because they serve delicious meals!
What can you possibly do at TWBD? Well, there is more than one way to enjoy your time at The Witches Brew Diners! Here are four things you can do on your next visit:
4. Get serenaded
On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, The Witches Brew Diners is filled with music from budding musicians. TWBD provides the perfect intimate experience for families and friends alike. Every night is a different experience as they have Pop Nights every Friday, Acoustic Brews on Saturdays, and Classics on Sundays. And while you’re enjoying the music, you can also look at their HP and GoT paintings.
3. Play board games
On the mezzanine is a whole cabinet of board games which you can play with your family and friends. Test your bonds as you play classic games such as chess, UNO, and word factory. Or you can try your luck with Don’t Take Buster’s Bones. You may even find some games that you may not be familiar with, but you know, there’s always a first time at trying something.
2. Taste Harry Potter and Game of Thrones-inspired dishes
Each food and drink is creatively named after HP and GoT characters. Dive into the magical world of Harry Potter with their Harry Patty (burger), Wingardium Leviosa (wings platter), Severus Steak (T-bone beef steak), and more!
Muggle Fries—potato wedges with a spicy kick
Minerva’s Love Spell—my favorite dish among all that we’ve tried (it melts in the mouth!!!)
Severus Steak will give you another reason to like Snape
GoT fans will totally enjoy eating their Pizza Daenarys, Song of Fire and Ice (penne pasta in spicy marinara sauce), and Jon Snow’s Obsession (apple crumble). They have a lot of other GoT-inspired dishes that will make you laugh once you realize why it’s named that way.
They have Cersei’s Salad for those on a diet
Their Song of Fire and Ice is to-die-for
Pizza Daenerys—we finished this as soon as it was served
Jon Snow’s Obsession—equally indulgent as Jon Snow himself
And while it may not be part of the Harry Potter or Game of Thrones world, their Chona’s Garden, a salad recipe of Ms. Chona De Robles, owner of TWBD, is a must try!
Chona’s Garden is definitely a must-try
They also have a bar which serves Polyjuice, Felix Felicix, and Dragon’s Blood. And if you’re wondering if they are serving the most famous drink in the wizarding world, yes, they have alcoholic and non-alcoholic butterbeer!
I never knew that Dragon’s Blood would taste so good
It felt like we’re at Hogsmead
You bet we asked for a second round of this foamy drink
1. Take amazing photos
Upon entering the diner, you will be welcomed by banners from the four Hogwarts houses, and the chandeliers which will remind you of Hogwarts’ Great Hall. On one side of the first floor, you’ll be transported to Platform 9 & 3/4 because of their 3D wall design, and a cart complete with luggage and a caged owl, positioned against the wall. You can have your picture taken here as if you’re about to run towards the wall. And for a complete HP experience, you can borrow the house robes, scarfs, and wands (just tell them what house you’re from).
This is us, hanging onto the train to Hogwarts
Our favorite spot to take HP photos
Of course I had to pose with my butterbeer whilst wearing my Gryffindor robe
On the mezzanine is a completely different world. The walls feature the King’s Landing, and banners of the Great Houses hung behind the Iron Throne. You may sit on it, whether you are, or not, the rightful heir. There is even a sword replica for a complete GoT experience!
Ms. Chona told us that they’ll be having an actual sorting hat, and a life-size Nimbus 2000 (squeals) soon. We’ll definitely come back for these additions!
The Witches Brew Diners is open everyday from Monday to Thursday (8am-10pm) and Friday to Sunday (8am-11pm). You can also rent their function room which can accommodate 50-70 people, perfect for birthday parties!
And while you may not get transported there via Floo powder, you can easily search them in Waze, Grab, Uber, and Sakay.ph.
Experience the magic of wizards and kings at The Witches Brew Diner!
