HARANA SA MHI: Celebrating the 2nd year Anniversary of “UP Manila Museum of a History of Ideas”

This October 2016, the UP Manila Museum of A History of Ideas will celebrate its second Anniversary and will also participate in the celebration of Museum and Galleries Month. The museum has ideated “Harana sa MHI,” a fund-raising concert for the museum’s ongoing operations.

Harana sa MHI” will be featuring Triple Fret, a classical-contemporary guitar trio composed of Jenny de Vera, Iqui Vinculado and Marga Abejo. Formed in 2011, the trio hails from the University of the Philippines College of Music and University of Sto. Tomas Conservatory of Music. The all-female group has been performing extensive repertoire of Spanish guitar pieces, tangos, jazz standards, Filipino traditional music, and classical pieces, all infused with a style uniquely their own in various countries in Asia and Europe.

This trio recently held a performance in the Cultural Center of the Philippines Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino (Little Theater) as part of CCP’s Special Concert Series. The said performance received great feedback from their audience. Also, they won 1st prize at the 27th Japan Guitar Ensemble in Kyurian Hall in Shinagawa, Tokyo last June 2015. In addition to winning the top prize, the trio also won the Japan Guitar Association Award, the Kohno Guitar Award and the Harumi Award for Best Performance of an Original Contemporary Composition for Guitar Ensemble. The group was also invited to perform during the Philippine Independence Day reception held on June 12, 2015 at the Imperial Hotel Tokyo.

The event is presented by the UP Manila Museum of a History of Ideas in partnership with the UP Manila Student Council, Pacific Surgical, UP Med Choir, UP Manila Classical Ensemble, SHOOT UPM, Juanita and Vicente Hao Chin Chua Foundation, Foundation for the Advancement of Orthopaedic Sciences, Inc., QualiMed, Always Modish, Shakey’s, 99.5 Play FM, ClickTheCity.com and WhenInManila.com.

It will be on October 22, 2016 (Saturday), 6:00 o’clock in the evening at the University of the Philippines Manila—Museum of a History of Ideas building located at the Philippine General Hospital compound, Padre Faura St., Ermita, Manila.

Regular – Php 1,000
Senior Citizen & Student – Php 500
