Handurawan: A Recollection will be on the 17th of September 2022 from 10am to 5pm. The marketplace will be held at Coffee Rush Binangonan’s event place called “Bulawagan”.
Handurawan was initially created for the rapidly growing film photography community, but has transformed into a vintage/retro memorabilia marketplace to cater to the rising new retro trend that has been going on.
Handurawan will showcase brands like Film-folk, Retro Toy Collections and Wick it! Candles. There will be a lot of brands that will cater to everyone’s preference as the organizers of this event wanted something for everyone during this event. There are also viral tiktok beauty brands that will attend, to showcase and bring local brands to the market.
“Handurawan” is just one example of the beautiful words the bisaya dialect has to offer. As bisaya words like “puhon” and “padayon” are now being used in mainstream media and on the internet in the present day. The word itself is a perfect way to describe the theme of the event as it looks back or recalls the good old days.
Handurawan is also supported by the Tourism Office of Angono, One of the family’s from Angono that will be one of the main art gallery contributors is Albert Nicola’s family or as known by the internet as “Asian Cutie”. They are a family of photographers and are very active with the art and photography community in Angono. This collaboration is also a way for Angono to introduce and invite people to their Higantes Festival which will be coming this November.
Film People is a film photography shop that caters to the rising demand of film cameras and film here in the Philippines. It’s located at Antipolo and is a purely online business. It sells its products on Instagram and their official website is filmpeopleph.com. Film People started last October of 2021 and has been growing ever since. The event Handurawan: A Recollection is their first event hosted and organized as a company. They are hoping to introduce film photography to the daily lives of Filipinos by bringing nostalgia and the love of the art that is film photography.
