Grounded Holistic Arts and Culture Studio is back with States of Cadence II at Art Fair Philippines 2022

Artist Network and wellness lifestyle brand Grounded is launching the second part of their exhibition series entitled States of Cadence II.

In partnership with Art Fair Philippines, States of Cadence II is a multi-sensory exhibit on timelessness and infinite evolution of the human spirit, through connection, compassion, and engagement with the natural world.

Grounded is known for their support of grassroots and emerging artists. The arts and wellness platform aims to showcase their works through a holistic approach, reinventing the experience, for both artist and collector, through the practice of innovative and dynamic ways people discover and purchase artwork.

Whereas States of Cadence Exhibit I was presented solely online, for States of Cadence II, Grounded has partnered with Karrera Showroom, a vintage car showroom and cafe based in Alabang for its physical space.

The exhibition features paintings, prints, tapestries, photographs, and other mixed media works that bear witness to the Grounded Artist Network’s ongoing artistic investigation into various shades of time intersperesed with cadence – a natural rhythm, a frequency that the artists coalesce with to truly express themselves.

Offering an intimate portrayal of boundless beauty through art, States of Cadence II features the work of 20 artists from the Grounded Artist Network Program, presenting insights that transcend boundaries by introducing both specific and expanded narratives of various states of evolution through the lens of timelessness.

New acquisitions on view for the first time include photographs from featured artist, French photographer Camille Robiou Du Pont whose work knits together sensory journeys of the wild woman through water surface, depths, island ecology, freedom, dreams and rootedness in duality–all under the umbrella of cosmic elements reveling in the beauty and prowess of the Divine feminine.

In line with this, Maddie Camcam’s striking work radiates with vibrant themes of feminine strength, grace, and sisterhood, whereas Lucia Fischer also explores themes of feminism and female identity, however focusing on destabilizing ideas concerning the “male gaze” and gender rhetorics that have dominated cultural perceptions and traditions throughout the human timeline.

Painter and illustrator Ana Abigail dedicates her floral series on fragility to loved ones lost to the pandemic, as captured in her exploration of color in oil on round canvases.

Toph Camcam’s pieces invigorate the soul as a visual feast, as much as they are based on food as a celebration of humanity and reflection of identity and culture.

This selection from the Grounded Artist Network, among many other intricately curated works, invites the viewer to explore the intricate, labyrinthine systems and states of being, and the reparative role that art and compassion plays within these systems.

States of Cadence II launched at Karrera on March 23, 2022 at Karrera, and will run  until April 1, 2022, alongside exciting events including a wellness workshop, film night, watch showcase and fundraiser for schools in Siargao Island affected by Typhoon Odette. A portion of the proceeds from the exhibition are dedicated to Grounded’s partner beneficiary, Oceanus Conservation.

Typhoon Odette Fundraiser

“On December 16, 2021 Typhoon Odette struck the Philippines and Siargao Island was one of the most devastated places destroying homes.  wanted to take the opportunity of being a part of Art Fair Philippines to raise awareness and funds for Siargao, as it is a place that Grounded is deeply rooted in. We have a number of artists that were based in Siargao, and the devastation really hit close to home. Our featured artist for States of Cadence at AFP, Camille Robiou du Pont took these eerily beautiful photos of the destruction of Typhoon Odette, which is the centerfold and inspiration of the fundraiser that will be exhibited at the fair.” – Marika Manglapus-Ledesma

In light of recent events surrounding the devastation brought about by Typhoon Odette, Grounded has partnered with Oceanus Conservation and continues its commitment to ocean advocacy by raising funds for the rebuilding of schools in Siargao Island. The exhibit features Camille’s eerily arresting photos of the destruction of Typhoon Odette, as well as her portraits engraved on wood by Siargao local artist Niko Kanar.
