Forty four students from the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Cavite will be hosting a charity art exhibit called ‘Odyssey: Chapters of Journey’ on March 29-31 this year at The Junction, Tagaytay City.
This three-day exhibit is an annual event organized by the graduating Multimedia Arts students of LPU-Cavite to showcase their talents in the fields of digital illustration, photography, sculpture, traditional arts, motion graphics and film while raising money in aid of communities needing financial assistance.
For this year, the organizing committee of the said exhibit has chosen to give medical support to children from Cavite that suffers from Cerebral Palsy. The exhibit will donate 50% of all ticket sales to the said charity in partnership with LPU-Cavite Charity organization CoSel.
The theme for this year’s art exhibition is Odyssey, which comes from the greek poem written by Homer about Odysseus’ ten-year journey in finding his way home to his kingdom. The exhibitors aim to showcase their journey throughout their years in the academe in different kinds of art forms. Audience must watch out for a ‘Greek meets modern’ style that the art exhibit will showcase.
Odyssey will also bring together some of Philippines’ most sought-after artists on one stage such as Vin Quilop (Illustrator), Taipan Lucero (Baybayin Calligrapher), Aeonix (Illustrator), Anina Rubio (Muralist), June Digan (Watercolor Calligrapher), Ed Enclona (The Color-Blind Photographer) and many more. These speaker will share their journey on how they got in the art industry.
The exhibit, aside from artworks, will also feature some music. An open mic to rising young bands and mic performers will also be happening. To support our very own OPM, special performances by local solo performers such as Allison Shore, Nosia, LY and Kiyo, are also something attendees need to watch out for.
Over 2,000 people composed of students, art enthusiasts and collectors attended last year and more participants are expected to grace the event this year.
Odyssey: Chapters of Journey will officially open its doors on March 29 at 1:00 pm and will conclude up on March 31. Tickets reservation will be available from March 15 and ticket will also be sold onsite on the day of the event.
