As of 4:00 PM today, the state weather bureau, Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA), announced that based on available data, the center of tropical storm “Gorio” which is also known as Nesat was estimated at “615 km East of Casiguran, Aurora (15.7°N 127.8°E) with maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 90 km/h. It is forecast to move North at 13 km/h. Southwest Monsoon affecting Luzon and Western Visayas.”
Monsoon rains which might trigger flash floods and landslides are also expected within Metro Manila and in the following regions: Ilocos, Cordillera, Central Luzon, CALABARZON and MIMAROPA. Given this, several provinces and cities have already announced class suspensions. Here is a list of areas where classes tomorrow, July 27, 2017, have been suspended due to the tropical storm.

Meanwhile, the Quezon City Public Affairs Department announced that regular classes will continue at all levels. However, Acting Mayor Joy Belmonte said on a Facebook post, “5:20 AM. PAG-ASA’s latest advisory came in at a little past 4 am, and they have predicted rain and thunderstorms until 6 am. Just on the phone with Myke and we agreed that parents must exercise their judgment and prerogative to keep their children home especially those living in more risky areas.”
