This time around, VH GoJAM goes beyond just musical performances and hosts a heated competition to find the next best sound in the Filipino music scene. As they bring together all music lovers and fans in an exciting launch party, they aim to carefully select a group of qualified participants who will jam it out in an extensive online workshop that will arm them with the know-how and mindset of music professionals. These events will build up to a star-studded grand finale that will allow 10 lucky participants to showcase their musical arrangements to a crowd and have these masterpieces produced professionally as well. Ultimately, the competition will witness the birth of a new starlet, where he or she will come full circle and sign their very first management contract with Unlabel!
Sound Check
To kick off the two-month-long affair, VH held a launch party to introduce the entire event hosted by rock vocalist and Jam 88.3 radio jock Candy Gamos, where she set the tempo for all those interested to enter the competition. Accessed through the Globe VH Portal, partygoers were given a glimpse of what is really in store for them— from the contest application process down to the prizes that can be won throughout the journey.
The launch party also featured brief mentoring sessions from notable names in the industry. Managing Director of Warner Music Philippines, Ian Monsod, and the Managing Director of Universal Music Group PH, Enzo Valdez, will touch on topics like “What Makes an Artist” and “New Music Business Trends and Digital Marketing”, respectively. Lastly, Unique Salonga brought the house down with a hot solo performance— because we all know that a GoJAM experience isn’t complete without a special musical number to culminate it.
Setting the Stage
The launch party will be succeeded by the application process for all those who wish to show the PH music industry what they are really made of. Each applicant will be sending in their own original composition and will be judged by song delivery, songwriting, song arrangement, production, personality, marketability, and relevance. The VH team will then select the Top 10 Candidates who will be going neck and neck during the campaign period and grand finale.
But in order to back up their arsenal, all chosen participants will first have to go through a 3-day bootcamp where they will be exposed to key players in the industry while enduring modules, ranging from songwriting to the technical aspects of arranging and recording. The camp will be balanced with onsite practical teaching and application through various activities under said unique topics. Participants will get up close and personal with the leaders of Warner Music and Universal Music, celebrity stylists, local singers, producers, and more! While they value not only talent but also perseverance and grit, musicians will have to step up in challenges that will be the ultimate test of songwriting abilities, melodic construction, and self-confidence.
After powering through that competitive atmosphere, the 10 finalists will get to let loose and connect with their fan bases to show more of who they are. The presentation of original music pieces, personal interviews, and trivia videos will all be part of the campaign period that leads up to the grand finale! The result of the final battle solely rests upon the artists’ final performances of their original songs and the grand winner will be the face of VH GoJAM and the deserving artist to score a record deal with Unlabel!

The contest is open to all Filipino singer-songwriters who have got the talent and the confidence to share their sound with the world!
