It’s a common occurrence in the Philippines for children to get sponsored by foreigners. Under these programs, foreigners can sponsor food, clean water, education, health care, or livelihood opportunities. What isn’t common is for children to meet their sponsors, or foster parents.
A young girl from Legazpi City finally meets Dr. Gary and Diane Kraft for the first time when they visited her in her home. The couple was welcomed by banners, a photo collage of the family, and a meal. There, they learned more about their foster child and her dreams of becoming a teacher.
Gary Kraft revealed that he personally chose her out of all the profiles he saw. Upon seeing her in person (it was revealed that she was the only child who was visited by a foster parent), he said, “I flew halfway around the world to get a hug!”
The moment was recorded by Travis Kraft, the American model and actor, also the son of Dr. Gary and Diane Kraft.
