Gerald Anderson Shows Support For ABS-CBN During Rally: “Sama-sama natin lalagpasan ito.”

Gerald Anderson joined fellow ABS-CBN stars last Friday in the advocation of press freedom and protest against the ABS-CBN shutdown. Different groups such as journalists and human rights activists rallied together in front of the broadcasting network’s compound in Quezon City.

The Kapamilya artist was vocal about his support for the network during the live broadcast of TV Patrol. He talked mostly about the worldwide service that ABS-CBN does for Filipinos working or based abroad.

“That’s something that we have to protect,” he said. “Itong challenge na dumating sa ABS, sama-sama natin lalagpasan ito.”  [This is the challenge of ABS, we will get through this together.]

Fellow ABS-CBN actors Elmo Magalona and Nikki Valdez similarly spoke up during the interview. They shared their concern for the 11,000 employees whose jobs depend on the franchise renewal.

The rally took place following a Senate Public Services Committee hearing on ABS-CBN’s compliance with its broadcast franchise earlier this week.
