“Game of Thrones” is getting a documentary after the series finale

Game of Thrones

If you’re one of the thousands of people looking forward to the eighth and last season of Game of Thrones next month, we have good news for you: a documentary will be released and will premiere on May 26 on HBO, a week after the final episode.

The documentary will focus on the creation of the last season. According to HBO, it will be “an up-close and personal report from the trenches of production, following the crew and the cast as they contend with extreme weather, punishing deadlines, and an ever-excited fandom hungry for spoilers.

In case you’re too sad to say goodbye to this epic show, you don’t need to worry as there’s always the possibility of spinoffs happening.

One has already been announced, and will be a prequel and will be set in an era called “The Age of Heroes”—a dark time in Westerosi history 10,000 years ago.

The show has already announced its cast: Miranda Richardson, Naomi Watts, Marquis Rodriguez, John Simm , Richard McCabe, John Heffernan, and Dixie Egerickx are set to join.

The move may be considered unusual, as the network has never created a spinoff or a follow-up of its shows.

But it’s understandable when you consider the show’s success: Game of Thrones is HBO’s most-watched and longest-running series, and has received 47 Primetime Emmy Awards, the most for any TV series.

Game of Thrones is an adaptation of Martin’s fantasy series of novels and follows different dynasties as they aim to succeed the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms.
