Forbes Released its List of the Richest Filipinos and Wow, That’s a Lot of Money

Forbes just released its list of the 50 richest Filipinos and there are many familiar names.

The Sy siblings of SM top the list with a net worth of $16.6 billion. According to Forbes, “the six Sy siblings, Teresita, Elizabeth, Henry Jr., Hans, Herbert, and Harley, inherited their fortune from their late father Henry Sy Sr. Their combined net worth is comprised largely of stakes held in the group’s publicly traded SM Investments and SM Prime.”

The website adds, “today SM is one of Southeast Asia’s largest conglomerates, with interests in department stores, supermarkets, banks, hotels, real estate, and mining.”

Their father was the Philippines’ richest person for 11 consecutive years, with an estimated net worth of $18.3 billion in 2018.

The Sys are followed by Manny Villar, with a net worth of $6.7 billion.

Rounding out the top 10 are:

3) Enrique Razon Jr; $5.8 billion

4) Lance Gokongwei and siblings; $4 billion

5) Jaime Zobel de Ayala; $ 3.3billion

6) Dennis Anthony and Maria Grace Uy; $2.8 billion

7) Tony Tan Caktiong; $2.7 billion

8) Andrew Tan; $2.6 billion

9) Ramon Ang; $2.3 billion

10) Ty siblings; $2.2 billion

The youngest on the list is Edgar Sia II (#28), 44 years old, with a net worth of $675 million. The eldest is Mercedes Gotianun (#20), 93 years old, with a net worth of $1.25 billion. Sia is is the chairman of DoubleDragon Properties and started Mang Inasal, while Gotianun is chairperson emerita of Filinvest Development.
