Finding the right salon for your personality and budget is never easy. When in Manila, there are so many good salons and excellent stylists in the industry that the process becomes simply a matter of trial and error. Unfortunately for me, despite numerous excellent experiences with other salons (read about my other experiences here!), I never had that knowing, gut feeling. I never found a salon that reached HG (holy grail) status. Until now.
When Vince Ang of Folded & Hung Famous Salon invited me to try out their services, I was pretty excited. It’s been a long time since I’ve made a trip to the salon, not to mention the excitement over trying a new place. According to their Facebook page, they are “committed to give the trendiest, stylish, & up-to-date hair needs for the style-forward individuals“. Sounds like my kind of salon!
I headed over to their Greenhills branch last July, conveniently located at the Greenhills Shopping Center in San Juan. It was not big, but it was cozy and wonderfully decorated. Their interiors featured a British rock theme showcasing pop culture icons, lending an edgy, creative feel to the entire salon.
The salon could comfortably cater to ten (10) clients at a time, not including a private VIP room which you can book for privacy without extra charge. The salon tends to get full, so it’s best to book your appointments in advance.

On to my experience! I was introduced to my Creative Stylist, Alvin Quines. He exuded authority and skill, carefully studying my hair with precision and know-how. I loved that he listened to my input but was unafraid to suggest what would look good according to my face shape and skintone. As a dancer, my hair becomes part of my performance (partly the reason why I keep it long!). Hence, I wanted something daring and edgy yet toned down enough to be wearable to the office daily. I’ve always wanted to try ombre, and he assisted me in choosing the right colors for my hair and skintone.
Before coloring my hair, Alvin then proceeded to give me a hair cut. Usually, stylists tend to get too happy with the scissors (turning a trim into a much shorter nightmare) and insist on giving me bangs (despite the fact that my hair turns curly when cut short), but Alvin did none of these things. He gave me the perfect trim, listening to my wants, considering my hair needs, and I left the salon completely happy with my cut. None of the time usually required to “grow to love” my new haircut, as most stylists leave me feeling.

After getting my hair colored in, my hair underwent an intensive treatment to ensure its softness and manageability. All in all, the process took five hours to do but it was worth it! The time went by so quick too. Folded & Hung Famous Salon is equipped with Wi-Fi and the latest glossy magazines so you’ll never get bored. They never fail to offer you complimentary drinks or even a snack when you get hungry. Service is A+!

I am absolutely in love with my new hair. Nothing but praises for the entire team over at Folded & Hung Famous Salon. They were able to deliver EXACTLY what I dreamed of, and more. It was my first time to walk out of a salon completely blown away and 100% completely satisfied.
