Five Filipino films will be screened at the 29th Tokyo International Film Festival in Japan, which will take place from October 29 to November 3.

Jun Robles Lana’s film, “Die Beautiful” starring Pablo Ballesteros, will be making a return to the festival’s main competition, after “Barber’s Tales” in 2013 starring Eugene Domingo, who won Best Actress.

Meanwhile, two films are included in the Asian Future section, namely Ivan Andrew Payawal’s “I America” and Mikhail Red’s “Birdshot.”

Lav Diaz’s Berlinale winner, the 8-hour epic “Hele Sa Hiwagang Hapis” will be in Tokyo’s World Focus Section. Also being screened is Brillante Mendoza’s “Shiniuma”.

What an exciting event for our Filipino filmmakers.
