First Filipino-American Elected to Office in New York State to Hold Official Inauguration Ceremony

Newly-elected Assemblymember Steven Raga will be holding his historic inauguration this Sunday, January 15th, 2023 (New York time).

He is the first-ever Filipino American to be elected in the 245-year-history of the New York State Legislature representing New York State’s 30th Assembly District and the diverse neighborhoods of Woodside, Elmhurst, Astoria, Jackson Heights, Middle Village, and Maspeth. With two decades of public service experience, through advocacy and non-profit work, Assemblymember Raga’s objectives are rooted in the needs and concerns he encountered throughout his time engaging with members of the communities of Queens and New York City. 

“During this tough time, caused by COVID-19 and economic hardships, we can find strength in a unified community,” said Assemblymember Raga. “As a long-time resident of Queens, I look forward to fully dedicating my time and effort to the enrichment of all residents of my home district and to work towards the goal of equity for all.” 

The Official Inauguration Ceremony of New York State Assemblymember Steven Raga will take place from 10 am to 12 pm, with doors opening at 9:30 am, at Queens Museum, New York City Building, Flushing Meadow Corona Park, Queens, New York.
