Chinese New Year revelers can find good luck to start the Year of the Monkey with 8 Lucky Rituals at Lucky Chinatown. 1. Toss a coin at the Prosperity Garden
Visit the Prosperity Garden at the Lucky Chinatown Walk, with the Prosperity Tree and lucky coins. Toss a coin here and make a wish for good fortune.
2. Lighting of the first incense at Buddha’s altar
Incense symbolizes the fragrance of pure moral conduct and reminds everyone to cultivate good conduct in their daily lives. Buddhists believe that lighting the first incense of the year can make one’s New Year wish come true. Lucky Chinatown is inviting mall goers to join the Chinese New Year Countdown Program with a Feng Shui Talk from Johnson Chua at 11PM on February 7 at the Lucky Chinatown Walk and to light the 1st incense of the year at Buddha’s Shrine at midnight.
3. Complete the Fire Dragon
In Chinese culture, the dragon is an extremely powerful protector, representing success, wealth, prosperity, good luck in love and spiritual growth. It is believed to create celestial Chi and bring good fortune into homes and workplaces.
To celebrate the Year of the Monkey, Lucky Chinatown is inviting all mall goers to complete its Giant Fire Dragon by placing a stick of incense on the Fire Dragon Frame. The Fire Dragon will be lit up at midnight of February 7 to welcome the Chinese New Year and bring in powerful good luck energies into everyone’s life.
4. Visit the God of Wealth
Make a wish for good money fortune to Cai Shen, god of wealth. Cai Shen is believed to be the accountant guarding the treasury of heaven; he is often shown dressed as a civil official, wearing a minister’s gauze cap and embroidered robe, holding a Ru Yi (an S-shaped ornamental object usually made of jade, a symbol of good luck) and gold or silver ingots.
5. Ring the Good Luck Gong
Gongs and chimes have often served as tools to begin and end meditating sessions; its soothing sound help calm the mind and relax the soul. Sound the Good Luck gong and find inner peace and luck for the Year of the Monkey.
6. Treat yourself to Lucky Food
