Amid the ongoing public health crisis that has kept people from truly celebrating Halloween this year, a Filipino teacher based in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA decided to bring smiles to her young students at their own homes while wearing…a T.Rex costume!
Cheryl Golangco shared with WhenInManila.com what made her decide to put together this adorable treat for her First Grade class a few days before the spooky holiday.
“I wanted to help them celebrate somehow, and since a lot of them have never seen me in person (due to COVID and online classes) I thought this would be a good opportunity.”
Donning a T.Rex costume, she had her former co-teacher drive her to their homes to spread love, joy, sweet Halloween candy, and warm dinosaur hugs!
“They were super surprised and could not believe I was at their houses,” she shared. “I felt really good about it. It was well worth their smiles.”
“I’ve still a long way to go when it comes to teaching. I’ve still so much to learn. But I genuinely love what I do… and genuinely love these kids. Whatever small gesture I can do to help them and their families through these crazy times will be worth it,” she added.
