Another Filipina drag queen is ready to compete in the Drag Race franchise. This time it’s Stephanie Prince, who is one of the announced contestants of the upcoming season of Canada’s Drag Race.

Prince, Stephen Pasay outside of drag, describes herself as a Filipina goddess and prairie princess. According to her website, she is known for her “jaw-dropping looks, gag-worthy performances, and chaotic personality.”

Here’s how she describes the origin of her drag name: “in middle school she was often teased and called Stephanie due to her femininity, so she channelled her inner Diana Prince (Wonder Woman, duh) and turned lemons into pink lemonade (get it? Stephanie + Prince!)”

In a series of Instagram Stories earlier this week, Prince answered some questions from her followers and we learned more about her upbringing.

She revealed that her hometown is Marikina and that she moved to Calgary in 2011 at 15 years old. When asked what she misses about the Philippines, she said, “the unbearable heat and street food.” Prince also mentions the Philippines as one of the countries she would love to visit, saying she’d “love to go back as soon as possible.”

Prince was also asked what it’s like being Filipino and she answered, “it’s like being ever other human being but you get bullied and stereotyped and I can’t speak English properly.” She added, “But I’m proud to be Filipino!”

A follower asked her for her favorite Filipino dish and Prince said, “everything. Legend has it that I make the best spring rolls.”

And oh, her favorite Filipino song is Sarah Geronimo’s “Forever’s Not Enough.”

Prince is the second Filipina to compete at Canada’s Drag Race, following Kyne in season one.

Drag Race has seen plenty of Filipino queens, including Ongina (season 1, AS5), Manila Luzon (season 3, AS1, AS4), Jaremi Carey or Phi Phi O’Hara (season 4, AS2), Jiggly Caliente (season 4, AS6), Vivienne Pinay (season 5), and Rock M. Sakura (season 12). In Drag Race Thailand, JAJA competed in season 1 while Mocha Diva was in season 2.

Canada’s Drag Race season two will premiere on October 14, 2021 on WOW Presents Plus.
