Fifty Shades of Grey Filipino Version Being Produced with John Lloyd and Maja!

We’ve all heard of Fifty Shades of Grey– the erotic novel by E.L. James that introduced impressionable teenage girls and moms to the kinky world of BDSM, with cracks, and whips, and ropes and chains… and sold 100 million copies to a worldwide audience that had the hots for young, sexy billionaire Christian Grey. And of course, who hasn’t heard of the R-18 Hollywood film version starring Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan, that is now one of the highest grossing films of 2015??

This erotic romance novel is so popular even among Pinoys, there’s even a Filipino-translated version of Fifty Shades of Grey available in local bookstores!

Well… we have quite the unexpected news!!!

Fifty Shades of Grey Pinoy version

According to insider reports, Fifty Shades of Grey is set to have a local movie adaptation produced by Star Cinema, and will be scheduled for a late 2015 release!!

But who is playing Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey??

Fifty Shades of Grey Pinoy Version 2

Sources close to Star Cinema say two of its biggest stars will be starring in this movie, and they’re none other than John Lloyd Cruz and Maja Salvador!!

According to the insider:

“The rights have actually been in the works for quite some time now. Given the reception of Filipinos towards the Hollywood version of ‘Fifty Shades’, despite the R-18 rating, Star Cinema is now more confident to push through with a local release. Star Cinema believes that John Lloyd and Maja are the perfect fit to play the Filipino versions of Ana and Christian. After the success of The Legal Wife, Maja has proven that she can take on more daring roles, and the role of sexy Christian Grey will push JLC’s limits as a serious actor. Lloydy (John Lloyd’s nickname in showbiz circles) has actually been working out again, especially in preparation for this role.”

Fifty Shades of Grey Pinoy Version 3

Cathy Garcia-Molina is also slated to direct the Filipino version. A Filipino script is currently being developed in partnership with Precious Pages, who published the Filipino-translated edition of the book. That means we will see quotable quotes from the English version, in Filipino as well!!

“Because this is Pinoy, we will definitely add our own flavor to it, as we’ve done with other adaptations in the past. This one will definitely be more kilig and will have more screen blocks and blurs than the Hollywood film, so that it won’t cause controversy especially with the CBCP. This means we will also see the memorable lines from Fifty Shades such as ‘Laters, baby’ translated to ‘Laters, bebekoh’, and ‘You’re driving me crazy’, translated to ‘Kaloka ka’.”

The film, which will be given the Filipino title Limampung Lilim ng Kulay-Abo will most definitely be released in late 2015, but they are aiming for a release during the Metro Manila Film Festival. Meanwhile, a sneak peek of the movie will be released in a special press conference to be held on April 1.
